The primary responsibility of the Program Assistant is to support various aspects of programming for Residents and Guests. The role includes facilitating and hosting daily onboard entertainment and activities, ensuring a vibrant and engaging atmosphere. The position of Program Assistant is a versatile one that concentrates on both youth-oriented activities, ensuring engaging and age-appropriate entertainment for younger guests during youth program dates, supporting the ship’s Sr. Youth Coordinator as well as fitness and sports recreation, supporting the ship’s Fitness and Sports & Golf Teams, promoting an active and healthy lifestyle among Residents and Guests.
Responsibilities
• Lead group fitness programs and classes, both on board and ashore, under the guidance of the Sr. Fitness & Wellness Instructor.
• Manage inventory, maintain equipment, and ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards in line with Company policy, Public Health, SMS, Safety, and environmental regulations.
• Assist the Sports and Golf Manager in organizing golf outings, water sports, dive and snorkel programs, and oversee marina recreational water equipment.
• Conduct outdoor sports activities such as pickleball, tennis, table tennis, and cricket.
• Design and supervise activities for children aged 5 to 17, adhering to the ship’s Youth Program guidelines, under the guidance of the Youth Coordinator.
• Facilitate lecture hosted outings, expeditions, Destination Experiences, ship tours, and manage event setup and breakdown, including equipment and materials.
• Host daily onboard entertainment and activities such as trivia, karaoke, sports events, cocktail parties, and lecture introductions.
• Assist the Program Team in research and organizing logistics of purchasing, ordering, and entertainment supply management.
• Actively participate in onboard events as required, including setups for various events.
• Collaborate with Program team members to create a positive and engaging environment for Residents & Guests, staying updated with the latest recreational and entertainment trends and sharing relevant information to enhance program offerings. Additionally, acknowledge Residents’ preferences and deliver entertainment and activities accordingly, while encouraging and motivating Residents and Guests to participate in physical activities for their overall well-being in a friendly and professional manner.
Hiring Requirements
• Able to read, write and speak fluently in English
• Preferred: BA/BS 2-4 year degree or foreign equivalency in Early Childhood Education or similar or Degree in Hospitality Management, Fitness, Recreation or related field
• Courses or training in safety, environment, Public Health regulations required.
• First Aid and CPR Certifications.
• Minimum of 2-year experience with youth and/or in a sports and recreation setting or position.
• Experience on an ultra-luxury cruise ship, private club, boutique hotel, ultra-luxury hotel or resort preferred but not required.
• One additional language (German, French, Italian, Spanish) preferred
• Proficient computer skills to include creating and working with spreadsheets, Word, Excel, Outlook and Fidelio.
• Demonstrate a receptive and adaptable mindset with a strong commitment to continuously enhance personal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
