Refrigeration Technician – Luxury Mega Yacht

The responsibilities of the Refrigeration Technician will include, but not be limited to assist the Chief Refrigeration Engineer in the following:
- Maintenance, spare parts and purchasing routines.
- General minor maintenance and leak control of Water Chillers and Screw Type Provision Compressors as directed, and directly overseen by, the Chief Refrigeration Engineer.
- Air Handling Unit maintenance and repair, including all accessories Eg: Fire and smoke dampers, switches, cooling coils, all pipework and Frequency Driver Settings (general).
- Operation and maintenance of ship’s Refrigeration systems, including automation and general settings to maintain correct food storage temperatures.
- Cleaning of grease build up in Galley Ducts, or lint in exhaust ducts.
- Maintenance and repair of the following:
- Stand Alone type Air Conditioning and De-humidifier maintenance and repair.
- Freezers and Refrigerators in Apartments, including domestic icemakers in Apartment kitchens maintenance and repair.
- Refrigerators, Freezers and Icemakers in Galleys maintenance and repair.
- Provision rooms maintenance and repair, cleanliness of Evaporators, repair of doors and hinges, leak and temperature control
- Water coolers and dispensers; including repair and maintenance, filter replacement and complete replacement.
Requirements
- Qualification as Refrigeration Engineer, or at least ten years of experience in Maritime Refrigeration and/or Air Conditioning.
- Certified in accordance with STCW Regulations VI/1, I/9, I/14, and VI/6.
- Universal EPA Qualification, as well as adequate knowledge of Environmental Protection rules and regulations, as per outlined in The EPA (US), and/or FGAS Regulations (EU).
- Adequate knowledge of The Vessel Sanitation Program, including, but not limited to, USPH and UKPH rules and requirements. This includes the ability to spot hygiene deficiencies in everyday situations, and repair or report as per required.
- Basic computer skills – enough to navigate through Windows based programs (Word, Excel etc.) and have the ability to perform basic AMOS Tasks and Issuetrax Work Orders.
