The World, Residences at Sea, is the largest privately owned residential yacht on earth.  Employees of The World strive for excellence in everything we do.  We live and work on a one-of-a-kind luxury yacht that sails continuously around the world.  Every few days you will wake to an exciting new port of call.  It’s the ultimate way to work and travel all in one.

We offer internships for Hotel Management, F&B Management, Culinary, Enrichment and Rooms Division departments.  Interns are rotated through all sub-departments within a department and are exposed to a variety of positions held by line staff and spend time shadowing Managers.  The general rotation ranges anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.

Program Details:

Hotel – Ideal for those students who are undecided about which career path they would like to pursue. This overview will allow each person to rotate throughout all areas within the Hotel Department while spending time with both Crew and Management. This program ultimately allows one to experience all aspects of the Hotel Department within a luxury environment.  Involves rotation through the following areas:
1. Food & Beverage (includes F&B Administration, Restaurant, Bars, Galley and Hotel Stores Operations)
2. Front Office (includes: Reception, Concierge, Night Receptionist & Bell Team)
3. Housekeeping (includes floor operations for Residents, Crew & Public Area and Assistant Housekeeper)
4. Program (includes Entertainment, Sports & Recreation, Youth Programs, Broadcast, Lecture Programs)
5. Human Resources (includes Human Resources, Learning & Development, Crew Enrichment)

Food & Beverage – This program is ideal for those who would like to focus solely on Food & Beverage. Throughout this program, students will be allocated time in each of the departments with Food & Beverage. The rotation is based on the total number of weeks that each student is onboard and is done in such a way that management feels will be the most beneficial. This structured exposure to our luxury international F&B operation will help students acquire knowledge and develop an understanding of the importance of personalized service and quality.  Involves rotation through the following areas:
1. Administration
2. Events Planning
3. Restaurants (French, Mediterranean, American, Asian, Pool & Deck, In-residence Dining)
4. Bars and Lounges (rotation through all lounges, participation in the beverage program in the restaurants, gangway/tender service, public rooms responsibilities and management responsibilities)
5. Hotel Stores Stores/Purchasing (participation in loading and inventory)

Rooms Division – This program is designed for those students who prefer to spend more time within the Front Office and Housekeeping Departments. Time will be wisely distributed amongst both Crew and Management which gives the ultimate hands on experience within our luxury environment. Managers provide guidance; support, knowledge and feedback that will help students reach their full potential. Due to the extended periods of time in these two sub departments within Hotel, the knowledge acquired here will best suit those who wish to eventually pursue a career path in Front Office, and Housekeeping.  Involves rotation through following areas:

Front Office:
1. Reception
2. Night Receptionist
3. Concierge
4. Clearance
5. Bell Team

Housekeeping:

1. Residence cleaning with Steward/ess
2. Florist
3. Crew & Public Area Supervisor
4. Laundry
5. Linen Keeper
6. Assistant Housekeeper
7. Executive Housekeeper

Culinary – This program gives students the opportunity to experience all areas within the galley while gaining hands on experience with international cuisine. As well as assisting with the everyday operation, students may also have the opportunity to participate in the preparation of large, elaborate special functions. As we circumnavigate the globe, they will have the opportunity to witness the creativity of our Chefs as they incorporate local specialties, implement the latest trends in the world-wide industry and cater to our Residents’ preferences.  Involves rotation through the following areas:
1. Galleys (French, Mediterranean, American, Asian, Pool & Deck, In-Residence Dining)
2. Preparation for Special Functions
3. Butchery
4. Pastry
5. Bakery

Program -This program is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in Broadcasting and/or Stage Management. Due to the nature of our operation, this beneficial program ensures in depth exposure to both areas as well as multi-media communications.  Involved rotation through the following areas:
1. Stage (Lecture Programs)
2. Broadcast (Including IPTV System, editing and daily TV show production)
3. Enrichment Activities including sport, recreation, special events and youth programs

Qualification Guidelines:
• Open to final year students from prestigious Schools across the globe in hospitality field.
• Top Academic Performers
• Additional Languages preferred
• Practical Experience in luxury Hospitality
• Minimum of 21 years of age
