The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides both financial and operational support to the organization and is responsible for all financial operations of the company, including finance reporting and accounting. The CFO primarily supervises the finance unit and is the chief financial spokesperson for the organization. The CFO reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and directly assists the Chief Operations Officer on all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to budget management, cost benefit analysis, and forecasting needs. In addition, the CFO oversees all aspects of Information Technology and Supply Chain operations both on and off the ship.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the financial reporting for three operating companies, including the preparation of quarterly and monthly financial statements, annual operating and capital budgets, balance sheet reconciliations, forecasts and operations analysis
  • Prepares an annual budget for the consolidated group that is approved by the Board of Directors and presents it to the Resident community
  • Reviews financial performance with the operational groups on a monthly basis, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions
  • Plans and prepares for the annual audit; facilitates communications with the independent accounting firm relative to the audit report, internal controls and tax return filings
  • Develops and manages the short- and long-term capital needs of the business with focus on Dry Dock and long-term obsolescence
  • Prepares Board of Directors materials and gives financial presentations to the Board and to Residents as required
  • Participates in all Board of Director meetings attended by Management.
  • Provides disciplined financial analysis for major organization decisions
  • Safeguards assets and assures accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls and checks across all departments
  • Develops investment strategy for company’s cash positions
  • Develops and manages the organization’s foreign currency and fuel procurement and hedging strategy
  • Oversees preparation of materials for and participates in quarterly meetings of the company Hedge Committee and Investment Committee
  • Oversees all tax compliance matters, foreign and domestic
  • Oversees the overall planning, organizing and execution of all IT functions
  • Oversees the operational and fiscal activities of all Supply Chain functions
  • Oversees development of annual purchasing strategies based on ship’s itinerary, as well as all retail operations onboard with focus on high-end luxury products
  • Responsible for organization’s risk management including general liability and related insurance coverage, risk mitigation and disaster response
  • Provides strategic input to compensation programs and benefits for both ship and shore operations
  • Works to align resources with the short and long-term objectives and strategies of the organization
  • Seeks continuous improvement in organizational performance, effective use of financial and human resources and reporting to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the organization
  • Member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT); works closely with the SLT in aligning business policies, practices and controls to the Mission Statement, and with the CEO in the overall managing of the business

Hiring Requirements

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance or related field with a minimum of 10 years of accounting/finance experience in a management capacity required
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and knowledge of accounting principles preferred
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors is preferred
  • Strong financial preparation, mathematical and analysis skills, including the ability to assemble, analyze, and understand integrated spreadsheets and complex technical information
  • Ability to understand foreign currency markets, commodity future markets and insurance requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products or equivalent (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent managerial skills and the ability to create/manage high performance teams
  • Must be self-motivated, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, possess initiative and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, problem definition and resolution skills, strong organizational and analytical skills; poise and professionalism are required for success
  • Experience with IT, Supply Chain and Procurement functions preferred
  • Needs to be cost-conscious but also able to balance that with a clear understanding of the operation’s needs and be able to identify and justify appropriate expenditure opportunities
  • Must be hands-on and actively engaged in the day-to-day operations
  • Must be flexible to work outside of standard business hours and travel as needed to the ship
