Assistant Editor – Luxury Mega Yacht

In cooperation with the Editor, the Assistant Editor is responsible for the production and quality control of onboard-published communication. He/She will also provide printed material by request to ensure that they conform to company Brand Standards, whilst the overall production quality consistently exceeds Resident expectations.

Responsibilities
• Through printed and interactive publications, the Assistant Editor is required to protect the overall image of the company by using the Brand Standards Guide (BSG), the primary resource for all forms of The World’s brand identity: graphics, logos, colors, fonts, text styles, images and vocabulary
• In conjunction with the Editor, the Assistant Editor is allocated responsibility for the production of certain daily, weekly and port by port publications:
o The Assistant Editor is allocated shared ownership of The World In, and assumes responsibility for the preliminary layout of this publication as part of the Program Development Workflow timeline
• The Assistant Editor is the primary proof-reader for all the material published by the Editor:
o Perform internal proofing processes to create “error-free” publications and share his/her work with the Editor for the same process on all publications
o Uphold BSG principals in all onboard-published communications, from day-to-day written communications to more advanced, printed and collateral materials and logoed items

Hiring Requirements
• Minimum of 1 year working as a Desktop Publisher or similar position on a Cruise Ship, Private Club, Luxury Hotel or Resort
• Strong written and verbal and proofreading skills in the English language
• Previous editing and writing experience in a high-volume, multi-department atmosphere
• Excellent and in-depth computer skills to include Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and In Design a must
• Working knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat and Graphic Design necessary
• Previous experience in the following positions a plus:
o Sub-Editor
o Layout Specialist
o Copywriter or Feature Writer
o Printing experience
• Secondary Education degree or equivalent
