Sr. Nurse

The primary responsibility of the Sr Nurse is to provide appropriate day-to-day health care to all Residents, Guests and Crew in a calm, professional and confidential manner. The Nurse will provide administrative assistance to the Doctor, including completion of medical records, handling of medical inventory and tracking of onboard crew medical examinations.

Essential Functions – Overview

• Provide ordinary medical duties and administrative assistance to the Doctor
• Treat and respect all Residents, Guests and Crew members in the same professional, confidential manner
• Be familiar with the Safety Management System, with emphasis on medical procedures and have full understanding of the positions responsibilities in the safety organization per the Emergency Plan
• Keep track of onboard crew medical examinations and make sure that crew are notified/reminded when they need to renew their medicals upon leaving for vacation
• Provide First Aid courses with crew as agreed with the Doctor and Staff Captain
• Work together with the Doctor in the inspection and maintenance of supplies and equipment
• In charge of testing the potable water for E-coli bacteria on a weekly basis and every time potable water is bunkered from shore
• In charge of refilling big first aid kits placed throughout the ship at least once a month
• Maintain logs and documents (including AMOS) as required in the Medical Center or as stated by the Doctor

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years experience as a RN licensed nurse and experience in critical care of patients
• Current ACLS and PALS certification or equivalent training and experience required
• Excellent English speaking and writing skills
• Familiarity with AMOS system preferred
• Relevant STCW courses up to date
