The Assistant Baker’s primary responsibility is to provide quality products in terms of freshness, taste and consistency. He/She is also responsible for baking fresh loaves of bread and assisting to set out the pastries and prepare fresh bread, pastries and other baked goods for the following day.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and keep all furniture on Decks neatly arranged, clean and tidy
  • Break down, cover and secure deck furniture during inclement weather
  • Provide food and beverage service in all designated areas
  • Set up, stock, operate and break down the beverage station ashore during tender service
  • Ensure Pool Bar is stocked, set and prepared to meet daily business demands
  • Collect all related stock requisitions from stores to bring to respective bar
  • Focus on minimizing waste and breakage and maintaining proper handling procedures
  • Ensure validity of an eTIPS certificate and adhere to the responsible service, sale and consumption of alcohol
  • Communicate Resident and Guest preferences to Bar Management
  • Exceed Resident and Guest expectations in every aspect of personalized service in accordance with Leading Quality Assurance (LQA) standards and participate in regular trainings
  • Distribute clean towels to Residents and Guests and ensure adequate clean stock

Hiring Requirements

  • Minimum of one year relevant experience on a luxury cruise ship, private country club or similar, luxury hotel or resort
  • Culinary School 2-4 year degree (or foreign equivalency) preferred
  • Certification in sanitation and Public Health
  • Ability to convert quantities mathematically
  • Comprehensive knowledge of starches, fats, sugars, liquids, eggs, leavening agents, salt, and flavorings, types of yeasts and mixing methods, basic equipment including; balance scales, mixers, and ovens, formulas and measurements including gluten development, basic baking techniques
  • Working knowledge of inventory management systems and Fidelio
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural environment
  • Good computer skills to include Word, Excel and Outlook preferred
  • Able to read, write and speak fluently in English
  • One additional language is preferred
