Chief Engineer – Luxury Mega Yacht

The Chief Engineer has the responsibility of the entire Technical Operation of our luxury vessel and is a member of the Senior Leadership Team. The Chief Engineer works closely with the Captain, Staff Captain and General Manager and has the overall responsibility to ensure the vessel’s electrical and mechanical systems are operated and maintained to the highest possible standard.

Responsibilities

  • Safe working practices and safe operation and repair of all machinery and associated systems on the vessel including waste management systems, water-tight doors, tenders, lifeboats etc.
  • Strong leadership in all areas of responsibility and ensure continual professional development of themselves and all team members
  • Implementing and maintaining the vessel’s planned maintenance system, plant history and inventory systems
  • Ensure that all technical personnel comply with procedures and instructions concerning safety and environmental protection
  • Display the highest levels of both technical and managerial performance
  • Forecasting and monitoring of relevant budgets
  • The effective operation and maintenance of all arrangements and equipment provided for pollution prevention, and the supervision of pollution prevention measures during bunkering and bunker transfer
  • The disposal of sludge, bilge water, oily water and exhausted oils in accordance with international, national and Company requirements
  • Be present in the Engine room during maneuvering, drills and emergencies

Hiring Requirements

  • Must have held the position as Staff Chief Engineer and/or Chief Engineer for at least 5 years
  • Proven leadership experience with effective communication skills
  • Unlimited Chief Engineer License Class 1 (Motor)
  • National License / Bahamian Endorsement
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Technical Diploma from accredited maritime Academy or equivalent.
  • To speak, read and write English clearly and distinctly
  • Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
