Destination Planning Manager

Reporting to the Lead Destination Planning Manager, the Destination Planning Manager is responsible for the research and development of world class, luxury global experiences ashore, consistent with Resident preferences that exceeds Resident and Guest satisfaction in bringing the Destination Alive.
Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities
- Experience in designing and developing shoreside destination experiences for a variety of ports and cultures
- Knowledge of local, annual and special events, active offerings, and potential theme experiences for assigned ports
- Ability to research, negotiate, and manage contracts with destination management companies and other vendors
- Experience in scouting and filming port related information for the onboard programming and enrichment team
- Strong resident relations skills and ability to respond to feedback and suggestions
- Excellent communication and writing skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Tapestry and Content Management System (The World’s internal programming planning software tool)
- Ability to proof own and colleagues’ planning notes and destination experiences
- Ability to meet publication deadlines and contribute to the destination report and guidebook
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively on inter-departmental projects
- Knowledge of current travel trends and industry-related trade shows
- Ability to support the concierge team and ensure the successful execution of destination experiences
- Visit the Ship annually to provide support to the Concierge Team and to meet and engage with the Resident Community
Qualifications, Education and Experience
- BA/BS 4-year degree or foreign equivalency.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in designing, managing, and executing diverse five-star luxury travel experiences, ideally for high net worth discerning clientele.
- Prior planning experience working with worldwide deluxe Tour / Travel companies, five-star resorts or cruise ships.
- Event Management expertise with experience in creating unique and authentic programs.
- Strong global destination experience from a luxury travel perspective.
- Strong world-wide knowledge of geography and Destination offerings.
- Excellent research skills, strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Proficient in MS office to include, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
- Must have superior command of the English language, both verbal & written.
- Must be able to travel based on job demands and requirements (approximate annual travel is estimated to be 2-6 weeks).
- Proven ability to create evocative and noteworthy travel experiences including such things as media accolades.
- Extensive destination knowledge from living/studying in foreign countries.
- Product development background with extensive industry connections.
- Copywriting qualifications a plus.
